Understanding endoscopic vacuum-assisted closure (EVAC) | Boston Children’s Hospital

Endoscopic vacuum-assisted closure (EVAC) is a nonsurgical endoscopic procedure that can help avoid open surgery and help allow the esophagus to heal after injury. In Boston Children’s Esophageal and Airway Treatment Center, our skilled clinicians use EVAC to treat esophageal perforation and leaks. Boston Children’s was the first pediatric institution to study EVAC in children and continues to do research in this area. Learn more about EVAC in this animated video, featuring gastroenterologist Dr. Peter Ngo. ▶Share this video with others:    • Understanding endoscopic vacuum-assisted c...   ▶Sign up for our weekly email newsletter for the latest parenting tips, patient stories, and news for your family from Boston Children’s: https://bit.ly/patientfamilynewsletter ▶Meet the Expert: Peter Ngo, MD Attending Physician, Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition; Medical Director, Esophageal and Airway Treatment Center https://www.childrenshospital.org/dir... ▶Program mentioned: Esophageal and Airway Treatment Center https://www.childrenshospital.org/pro...
